Enhanced Performance and Connectivity in a DIY Kit The DIY ZERO is the stripped-back option in the RISC OS DIY range, supplying only the essential core components without a case. It is intended for users who wish to integrate the system into their own enclosure or project, or for those who do not require a case at all. The kit contains a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 with heatsink, a model-specific carrier board, a 256 GB NVMe drive, a 32 GB SD card for the operating system, and all necessary mounting hardware including brass standoffs, screws, spacers, and washers. Assembly follows the same straightforward process as the other models in the range. The Compute Module 4 is fitted with thermal pads and the heatsink before being mounted on the carrier board. The NVMe drive is inserted into its slot and secured with a retaining screw, and the SD card is inserted for immediate boot capability. The board is then mounted using the included standoffs and spacers. As no case is supplied, the unit can be left open for bench use or incorporated directly into another housing. The DIY ZERO offers the same connectivity and performance as the DIY THREE, including two USB ports with provision for two additional front-mounted ports, dual HDMI outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, a 12 V barrel connector for power, and a micro-USB port for programming. It uses a 2 GHz–2.2 GHz CPU with 4 GB of RAM, and features both a 256 GB NVMe drive for storage and a 32 GB SD card for the operating system. With a footprint of approximately 190 mm × 105 mm, it is compact enough for a range of integration options. Technical Specification Processor Speed: overclocked up to 2GHz Memory: 4GB SSD Storage: 256GB NVMe storage for RISC OS as standard Networking: Gigabit Ethernet port and integrated WIFI option USB ports: 2 rear, optional 2 extra ports via header Audio/Video: Audio over HDMI Twin full sized HDMI ports Up to 3840x2160 HDMI graphics SD: 32GB for OS, boot and storage OS and Software: RISC OS 5 plus over 2GB of RISC OS Software as standard Case: Oak base plate Power and activity indicator LED Easy access to all components and expansions Options: Commercial software pack (worth over £500) 8GB RAM upgrade from 4GB 1TB NVMe upgrade from 256GB Active cooling
